Domingo y día festivo, y con ese poco de tiempo libre, nada mejor que seguir arreglando esos pequeños detalles que años de hojalateros cochinos para trabajar han hecho.
La bisagra de la puerta tenia unas líneas de soldadura cortadas muy gruesas que me imagino había un espejo sujetado de ahí, unas cuantas pasadas con mucho cuidado con el esmeril, lija y primer y quedó como nueva!!!

Domingo!, El día tradicional para dedicarle unos minutos a la “talacha” y día perfecto para tirar algunos click con mi cámara, así que porque no hacer las dos cosas al mismo tiempo?
Sunday! The traditional day to dedicate some minutes to our rides and also a perfect day to throw some clicks with my camera, so, why don’t do both?
We have some years with this Renault R8 and the same as with the VW Bus, it has been very pacient before he gets some work.
Los Renault han sido como una tradición en mi familia materna, así que quien soy yo para romper las tradiciones familiares.
Renaults have been kind of a tradition in my mother’s family, so who am I to brake those family traditions.
Gracias a mi papá que pone mucho empeño y tiempo en este carro que creo que ya lo quiere mas que a sus hijos jeje.
Thanks to my dad, who put a big effort and time in this car, I think he already loves it more than loves his sons ha ha.
Este no es precisamente un proyecto en el que queramos meterle la lana, ni pretendemos que quedé como salido de agencia como en el caso de la Combi, este es un asunto meramente sentimental, un auto que nos sirve de terapia familiar, en el que mi padre y yo compartimos tiempo, muchas horas de platica y en el que los resultados sean los que sean siempre son gratificantes, una tradición familiar dominguera que muy seguramente continuaremos con la siguiente generación.
This is not precisely a proyect where we want to put the big bucks, neither we pretend to make it look brand new like we want with “La Ranfla” (my VW Bus), this is entirely a sentimental business, a car that works like familiar therapy, wich my father and I use to share some time and many talk hours, and where the result what ever those are, are always rewarding, a family sunday tradition wich surely we will pass to our next generation.

Como ustedes saben yo no salgo de casa sin mi cámara fotográfica y hoy no fue la excepción y puedo enseñarles esta hermosura que encontré mientras le ponía gasolina al Cutlass.
As you guys know I can’t leave home without my camera and today was not an exception and I can show you this beauty I found while I was in the gas station.
Una Volkswagen Hormiga de 1977 que su propietario muy orgulloso, amablemente me dejo darle unos flashazos.
A 1977 Volkswagen Hormiga wich his proud and kind owner agreed to let me shot it.
Para aquellos que no las conocen, este es uno de los vehículos mas raros que ha producido la VW, y que cuentan con un motor 1600cc de 44hps montado justo detrás del eje frontal impulsado por tracción delantera y soportaba un peso de hasta 1 tonelada de carga.
For those who don’t know them, this is one of the rarest vehicles VW have ever built, featuring a 44hp 1600cc engine positioned right behind the front axle with a front wheel drive carring a maximun load of 1 ton.
Una verdadera rareza que por fortuna aun podemos encontrar, espero que les guste.
A real hard to find wich fortunately still can see, hope you like it.

A principio de los años noventa la pintura amarillo y negra ya se había hecho vieja y los arreglos que se le hicieron fueron primordialmente mecánicos, el motor 1600 recibió un ajuste y cambiamos la transmisión original con reductores por una caja de “Safari”con suspensión independiente y flechas y tambores de una combi mas reciente.
For early 90s “La ranfla’s” yellow and black paint got old and most of the improvements for those years were mechanical, 1600cc engine was overhauled and original reduction boxes transmision was traded for a vw type 181 THING IRS suspension with newer bay window bus axles and drums.
La carrocería seguía picándose y pronto necesitaría arreglos mayores así que nos dábamos a la tarea de conseguir un cascaron ya que a nuestro juicio ya no era reparable, pero por lo pronto seguíamos disfrutándola para viajes, en esa época fuimos varias veces a las playas de Puerto Escondido, Zipolite y hasta a el pueblo sagrado de Juquila.
The body kept rusting and she would need major work soon, so we started to look for a better shape body because that was not fixable for us, but while that happened we kept enjoying La ranfla for traveling, by those years We visited some beaches like Puerto escondido, Zipolite and the holly place of Juquila in Oaxaca.
